How not to get to the museum
A while back, several of us at CTC were brainstorming a list of things METRO could do to improve its service. We never did anything with that list, but I was happy to see two weeks ago that we can take one item off the list. METRO finally has an online trip planner (http://tripplanner.ridemetro.org/). Granted, many other transit agencies have had that for years (and some will even tell you when the next train/bus will actually arrive) but it’s still a notable, and very rider-friendly, step forward. (1) The old method for planning trips using the METRO website? Fill out a form and they’d get back to you in 24 hours.
Now if only they could do an up-to-date system map…

(1)There are still a few quirks to work out, though. I get to the MFA from my loft by walking 3 blocks and taking METRORail. The trip planner suggests I walk 1 1/2 blocks in the wrong direction, ride a bus for 2 blocks, then walk 2 1/2 blocks to the station to catch the train.
