METRO has sent out the first edition of an email newsletter called METRO connections (subscribe here.)
Interesting items:
- Westheimer is off the table as an alignment for the westernmost section of the Universities line. That was one of the three options I discussed two days ago, leaving Richmond through Afton Oaks and Westpark. Interestingly, Westheimer first became an option in mid-2005 due to a suggestion from Afton Oaks. Significantly, this means the Universities line will not serve the Galleria unless trains are through-routed onto the Uptown line as I discussed in that post.
- There are public meetings scheduled for two components of METRO Solutions: the Northern Intermodal Center (discussed here extensively: post 1, post 2, post 3) and the Harrisburg Line, both slated to open in 2012. Neither have been the subject of a METRO public meeting, and there have been no meetings at all held about the Harrisburg line.
