On tape!

I played talking head for a Channel 2 newscast Sunday night. The topic: an HOV lane on I-45 between FM 1960 and The Woodlands, built 4 years ago but never opened. I didn’t know about it until the reporter called. But unfortunately I’m not surprised. The hang-up here seems to be the kind of bureaucratic mis-coordination that’s typical of transportation: METRO can’t enforce an HOV lane outside its service area, and TxDOT hasn’t found anyone who can. The solution is to “study” the problem until it gets buried in the files. And as I told KPRC, the only hope for a real solution is from above:

The Citizens Transportation Coalition told us getting your local and state politicians involved can help get things moving.

Here’s hoping the media coverage gets enough people upset to get some gears moving.
