The Uline options: the East End
We’re getting to our last neighborhood on our University Line tour. And it’s by far the easiest.
The scorecard for the East End:
- US59/Alabama: Does not serve the East End. Can not be extended to serve the East End.
- Wheeler/Ennis/Alabama: Does not serve the East End. Can not be extended to serve the East End.
- Wheeler/Ennis/Elgin Serves the East End at the Eastwood Transit Center. Can be further extended in the future.
Of course, the East End already has its own line. Why does it need another? First of all, the University Line would serve a part of the East End not served by the East End Line:

More importantly, though, the University Line goes to places that the East End line does not: UH, Uptown, the Texas Medical Center. It’s a shortcut to the rest of the system. And, with a University Line stop at Eastwood, East End local buses can connect to it. And, in the future, the East End line could be extended to connect directly to the East End Line.
