Time for your voice

I’ve spent the last two months blogging about how the University Line options benefit and affect the neighborhoods and institutions along them:

Now it’s your turn. METRO is holding a series of meetings over the next two days, and the main purpose is to collect public input on the options unveiled in December.

for the line west of Main: Open House, Monday, Mar. 26, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Open House and Planning Workshop, Monday, Mar. 26, 6 - 8 p.m. Renaissance Hotel at Greenway Plaza, 6 Greenway Plaza
for the line east of Main: Open House, Tuesday, Mar. 27, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Open House and Planning Workshop, Tuesday, Mar. 27, 6 - 8 p.m. Hilton Hotel at University of Houston, 4800 Calhoun Rd.

You should tell METRO, of course, what option you prefer. But there’s more detail to be considered, too. Some of the things you might talk about:

And don’t let anyone tell you that you can only go if you live along the line. If you would use this line — whether to go to work, to go to school, to shop, to go to the museum — you have the right to an opinion. In fact, if you care about the future of Houston, you have the right to an opinion. METRO works for all of us; we need to tell them what we think.

I’ll be at both meetings. See you there.
